Mind Body Mamas
This series was developed by two passionate moms who are committed to promoting healing for both the mind and body, ensuring that no mother is left behind. While many programs focus on postpartum exercise or recovery, our class stands out by integrating the mind, body, and spirit to achieve holistic balance. In our sessions, we take a comprehensive approach, addressing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of each individual. You can join us for our weekly class, attend a monthly workshop, or participate online! Our mission as mothers is to empower women to regain their mental, emotional, and physical strength, enabling them to handle the demands of daily life.
Join us for our weekly Mind Body Mamas class at The Birth Center in Chantilly, visit us for a pop-up event at the Little Gym in Dulles, or sign up for one of our workshops!
Meet Your Instructors
Devon, a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist and mother, brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to maternal wellness. With a background in geriatric care and a recent focus on pelvic floor/prenatal and postpartum care, she understands the challenges new mothers face. Her lifelong passion for dance (beginning at age two!) and a BA with minors in Dance/Theater and Communications from the University of Tampa, combined with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy from Trinity Washington University, highlight her deep understanding of the mind-body connection.
Devon's personal postpartum journey, including her experience with postpartum anxiety, revealed a critical gap in maternal care. Recognizing the opportunity to apply occupational therapy's holistic approach—addressing mental, physical, social, and emotional well-being—she became a passionate advocate for mothers' health and self-care. It was during her own healing journey that she met Maddie in a yoga class, forming an instant connection and shared vision. Their combined passion for motherhood and holistic healing led to this exciting partnership.
MOMMY & ME CLASS: Healing and Empowering Postpartum
Join us every Tuesday at 10 AM for our weekly class designed for moms to move, socialize, heal, and build strength alongside their little ones. In this guided session, we’ll focus on functional movements that enhance strength and mobility while fostering communication between your brain and body. This practice aims to help you integrate these movements into your daily routine, preventing discomfort and toning.
Additionally, our classes will incorporate yoga therapy techniques; such as guided breathing and meditation techniques, paired with movement, helping to stabilize and balance the nervous system. This approach is perfect for those moments when motherhood feels overwhelming. Come and connect with fellow moms while nurturing your body, mind, and spirit!
Mothers must be at least 6 weeks postpartum and have received clearance from their midwife or doctor to participate. We welcome individuals at all levels of recovery and physical ability, ensuring that everyone can engage and benefit from the class. Your journey and comfort are our priorities!
Cost is $30 per class. Or purchase a 10 class plan for $200.
Preparing Your Mind & Body for Birth
Join us monthly for a two-hour workshop dedicated to postpartum healing, addressing mental, physical, emotional, and social aspects of recovery. These workshops will feature a blend of education, movement, and self-care strategies, along with practical tips for navigating this new chapter of life.
Each session will focus on a different topic, such as breathwork, pelvic floor recovery, postural mechanics, healing the nervous system, and effective partner communication and support. This approach aims to equip mothers and their support persons with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance their postpartum healing journey.
Participants will also receive community resources to aid in recovery and emotional support, providing an opportunity to connect with others who are on a similar path. Come and be part of a supportive community as we explore the various dimensions of postpartum healing together!
